Terms and Conditions

Welcome, and thanks for choosing L of a way to pass. By booking a lesson or using my services, you're confirming that you've read, understood, and agree to these terms. I've kept them in plain English, but they're still the terms — please read them properly.

L of a way to pass provides driver training across Mandurah and the surrounding suburbs. For the current service area, check the online booking system — it's the most up-to-date source. Lessons in Rockingham are available only as part of the Practical Driving Assessment (PDA) lesson and test package.

I'm a qualified and licensed driving instructor, and I work within Western Australian road laws, safety standards, and Department of Transport requirements.

I may update these terms at any time. The version in force when you book is the one that applies to that booking.

Lessons are booked in advance — through the website, by phone, or directly with me. To secure a booking, full payment is required at the time of booking unless I've agreed otherwise with you. Your first lesson must be booked and paid for online before the lesson date.

Accepted payment methods:

• BPAY

• Bank transfer

• Online payment

• Cash

Full payment confirms and secures your appointment. Once your booking is confirmed, you'll get a confirmation by SMS or email. Tax invoices and receipts are available on request.

48 hours' notice

I need a minimum of 48 hours (two business days) to cancel or reschedule a lesson. You can let me know by phone, SMS, or email.

Late cancellations

With less than 48 hours' notice, the lesson fee is forfeited, the booking is recorded as a late cancellation, and the payment is non-refundable and can't be moved to another booking.

Illness & medical emergencies

If you can't attend because of illness or a medical emergency and you provide a valid medical certificate, I'll reschedule your lesson to the next available appointment at no extra cost.

Late arrival & no-shows

If you're running late, your lesson may be shortened so it doesn't push into the next booking, and the full fee still applies. A lesson is treated as a no-show — charged at the full rate, non-refundable — if:

• you're not at the agreed pick-up point at the scheduled time;

• you can't be reached by phone or message;

• you arrive without your valid learner's permit or driver's licence; or

• you're affected by alcohol, drugs, fatigue, or anything else that would make driving unsafe.

What isn't refundable

• Completed lessons.

• Late cancellations (under 48 hours' notice).

• No-shows.

If I have to cancel

Occasionally I may need to cancel — illness, a vehicle breakdown, severe weather, or other circumstances affecting safety. If that happens, I'll let you know as soon as I can and reschedule you to the next suitable appointment at no extra charge.

Weather & road conditions

Your safety, mine, and everyone else's on the road comes first. I may postpone, cancel, or reschedule a lesson where weather, road conditions, or other factors make it unsafe to drive — for example heavy rain, flooding, bushfires or smoke, severe storms, road closures, traffic incidents, or emergency-services activity. Where I cancel for safety, the lesson is rescheduled to the next suitable appointment at no extra cost.

Before and during every lesson, you must:

• hold a valid learner's permit or driver's licence, and bring it to every lesson;

• be medically fit and in a suitable condition to drive; and

• not be affected by alcohol, drugs, fatigue, or anything else that could impair safe driving.

Safety, conduct & ending a lesson

I may use the car's dual controls whenever I judge it necessary to keep the lesson safe. That's a professional safety measure and isn't open to debate during a lesson.

I may end a lesson immediately, or decline future lessons, if you:

• object to or interfere with my use of the dual controls;

• refuse to follow reasonable, lawful driving instructions;

• behave in a threatening, aggressive, abusive, or disrespectful way towards me or other road users;

• attend affected by alcohol, drugs, or any substance that impairs safe driving;

• repeatedly cancel at short notice, or disrupt the safe running of the lesson; or

• do anything that puts you, me, or the public at risk.

If a lesson is ended for any of these reasons, the full fee remains payable, and no refund or credit is issued.

I'm committed to professional, patient, and courteous instruction that follows WA road laws and good industry practice. I will:

• provide a safe, supportive, and respectful place to learn;

• teach in a dual-controlled, fully insured vehicle;

• adapt lessons to your experience and ability;

• run lessons professionally, courteously, and as punctually as I reasonably can;

• give you clear guidance and feedback to build safe driving skills; and

• tell you as soon as I reasonably can if a lesson has to be rescheduled for illness, mechanical issues, weather, or other unforeseen reasons.

To support good-quality training, I may use a dash camera and, where appropriate, audio recording during lessons. Recordings may be used for instructor development, lesson reviews, quality assurance, incident investigation, insurance, and the safety of learners and instructor.

Any video, audio, or dashcam footage recorded during lessons remains my property and may be used for:

• my own training and professional development;

• quality assurance and improving the service;

• investigating incidents, complaints, or safety concerns; and

• assisting with insurance claims or legal obligations, and protecting the safety of learners, the instructor, passengers, and the public.

Recordings won't be published, shared publicly, or used for advertising without your consent, unless the law requires it.

In line with Department of Transport requirements, no video or audio recording is used during an official Practical Driving Assessment (PDA).

Phone calls with me may also be recorded for training, quality assurance, and record-keeping.

The lesson and test package is designed to help you feel prepared on the day of your Practical Driving Assessment. It may include a pre-test lesson, use of my vehicle for the assessment, and transport afterwards where applicable.

When you book the package:

• full payment is required to reserve me, the vehicle, and the booking;

• you provide the location of your assessment;

• pick-up and drop-off points are confirmed at booking;

• you're ready at the agreed pick-up point at the scheduled time; and

• cancellations and rescheduling follow the 48-hour policy above.

The Department of Transport runs the assessment, not me

The PDA itself is administered by the Western Australian Department of Transport. Please note:

• the Department's booking fees are separate from my fees;

• refunds, cancellations, or changes to an official PDA appointment are arranged directly with the Department; and

• I'm not responsible for the Department's booking errors, examiner availability, cancellations, or system issues outside my control.

I'm not responsible for fines, traffic infringements, or legal matters you incur before, during, or after lessons.

I'll always work to prepare you to a high standard, but passing a Practical Driving Assessment can't be guaranteed.

I'm not liable for injury, loss, or damage arising from lessons except where the law requires it or where it's caused by my negligence.

Vehicle care

Please treat the vehicle and its equipment with reasonable care. Deliberate or reckless damage may make you responsible for repair or replacement costs, where the law permits.

I collect and store personal information — names, contact details, and lesson history — solely to provide the service. I won't disclose it to third parties without your consent unless the law requires or authorises it, and I take reasonable steps to protect it from unauthorised access, misuse, loss, or disclosure. You can request access to or correction of your information using the contact details below.

From time to time I may offer prepaid lesson packages, discounts, or special offers. Unless stated otherwise:

• packages and offers are non-transferable;

• a package may only be used by the person it was bought for or allocated to;

• inclusions, pricing, and conditions may change for future purchases; and

• any expiry dates or conditions are made clear at the time of purchase.

Existing bookings and prepaid packages are honoured under the terms that applied when they were purchased.

Rockingham is available for the Practical Driving Assessment lesson and test package only.
